Lumiq Talent is partnering with one of the fastest-growing enterprise AI companies in the world. Backed by top-tier investors and recently valued in the billions, the business builds conversational AI agents that handle complex customer service across chat, email and voice for some of the world's best-known consumer and fintech brands.

They're now building a specialist Agent Builder team in Sydney and are looking for highly technical, customer-facing engineers to deploy AI agents at enterprise scale.

The role

This is a hands-on Forward Deployed Engineer role, sitting at the intersection of serious technical delivery and senior enterprise customer engagement. Making non-deterministic AI perform reliably in production takes more than a standard software rollout. You'll own the scoping, engineering, integration and iteration that turns a powerful platform into agents enterprises can trust.
It's a dedicated deployment career path rather than a stepping stone into core software engineering or product management, so it suits people who genuinely enjoy building with customers.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and delivering AI agent builds end to end, from initial scoping and system design through to production
• Writing agentic workflows in Python and engineering the logic that shapes agent behaviour
• Building layered guardrails so AI outputs stay safe, predictable and compliant
• Architecting, building and testing the APIs and data pipelines that connect agents to customer CRMs and ticketing systems
• Diagnosing probabilistic errors using execution traces and model logs, and designing regression testing to prevent performance drift
• Defining success criteria with senior technical stakeholders and driving implementation to deliver them
• Feeding customer insight back to Product and Engineering to shape how the platform evolves

What you'll bring

• 2+ years in a technical, post-sales or customer-facing delivery role within complex B2B SaaS, such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect or Implementation Engineer
• Strong, production-level Python (there's a live coding round)
• Deep experience with APIs and enterprise integrations
• Outstanding communication skills and real clarity of thought
• The ability to turn broad customer requirements into structured technical plans in a fast-moving environment

Nice to have

• A Computer Science or Engineering degree
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs, including prompting, evaluation and tooling
• Strong product instincts, such as writing PRDs

The process

A quick screen, a 45-minute live Python session with the engineering team, a take-home case study, and a final onsite covering the case study, customer prioritisation and behavioural questions.
